About Hardscrabble Plantation
This is where we are:
We are located East of the Florida - Alabama Line. In the Florida panhandle. We are only 3.8 miles (5 min.) from Interstate 10 (I-10). Nestled between the Perdido River WMA and I-10.
This is who we are:
We are a family owned and operated quail plantation, with Upland Hunting running through our veins. Who specializes in fully Guided Bobwhite Quail, (old fashioned) foot hunt. We can also add a few Chukar and Pheasant into the mix, upon request. Our Love for hunting carries over into every part of our lives. So naturally... We also train Pointing dogs, Flushing dogs, Blood trailing dogs, and Shed Antler Retrieving dogs.
This is what we are doing:
- All hunts are by reservation only.
- Hunts/Fields should be reserved, a minimum of one day in advance.
- Our Season Runs from October 1st - April 20th.
- We offer fully guided and self-guided upland hunts.
- There is a three gun per guided hunt limit, if there are more than three hunters in your party. We can rotate shooters at point. Additional fields and guides are available for large parties.
This is what you should consider bringing on your hunt:
- Shotgun - 12ga. - .410/36ga. Break or manual action is preferred but, not necessary.
- Shotgun Shells - We recommend a shot size of 7.5 to 9, in a length of no more than 2 3/4" for 12 - 28ga. (.410/36ga. may use 3" upland game cartridges).
- Chokes - These have a major influence on shot pattern. We recommend using between a Modified - Cylinder choke.
- Field Bag, Vest, Jacket, Skeet /Nail apron - Something to hold your shells. New and spent shells need a place to go. Not to mention, a place to carry all those birds!

We can add Pheasant to your Quail hunt. Our Ringnecks have been allowed to reach full maturity. This allows the birds to achieve their fullest potential, in beauty and agility.

If you Love Woodcock, then you will have a great time walking our pine flats, numerous branches, creeks flats, and bogs. That hold these little timberdoodles when they come to town in the Winter. This is for the bird hunting enthusiast. Who already may have their own bird dog. For a per-gun fee, plus birds. You will be assigned an area to hunt. We can Provide Quail, *Chukar, and *Pheasant pre-released to your specs.
